The Abia State Police Command has revealed that hoodlums abducted Professor Godwin Emezue, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Maureen Chinaka, the Command received the complaint of the Deputy Vice Chancellor’s abduction around 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
According to the information it obtained, Emezue was abducted by hoodlums while purchasing fuel at a petrol station in Umuekwu Amachara, Umuahia South Local Government Area, on the same date at around 7 p.m.
According to the account, the hoodlums took his wife’s ATM card, dragged the Deputy Vice-Chancellor into a Lexus SUV, and drove away.
The Command confirmed that it was sending resources and assets, including intelligence and technological assistance, to solve the crime and securely release the victim from his kidnappers.
“We advise Abians to stay calm and pursue their legitimate activities while remaining vigilant and security conscious.
“Furthermore, we seek the cooperation of the public, especially by way of providing any useful information that could be helpful in these particular circumstances, and in attaining enhanced security in the state, generally,” the Command said in a statement.
