The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, to the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday. This development came after the EFCC had previously failed to comply with a court order to produce Emefiele in court on Monday or release him unconditionally.
In response to the commission’s initial disobedience of the court order, the court restated its directive and adjourned proceedings until Wednesday. The EFCC subsequently complied with the court’s order, and Emefiele was escorted into the court by heavily armed operatives.
As of now, the judge has yet to commence proceedings, and further details are expected to follow.
