“About Now: Federal Government to Shut Down MMIA Starting October 1st”

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has issued a directive for all international airlines to temporarily evacuate the Murtala Mohammed International Airport starting from October 1, 2023. The purpose of this action is to allow for comprehensive maintenance work to be carried out at the airport.

Keyamo announced this decision during an inspection tour of various international airports in Lagos, accompanied by the Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Kabir Yusuf Mohammed.

The move underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and facilities of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport. Temporary closures of airports for maintenance are common practices to ensure that the necessary upgrades are completed efficiently and safely.
