In the early hours of Tuesday, armed robbers carried out a series of invasions in three communities in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. During the attacks, the robbers made off with cash, mobile phones, jewelry, and various other items.
The affected communities in which these incidents occurred are Alaja, Seriki, and Ogogo, located along the new Ibadan/Oyo Expressway within the Akinyele Local Government Area of the state. The robberies reportedly took place around 3 a.m.
Raji Kazeem, a community leader, confirmed the unfortunate events, stating, “Yes, it was true. The armed robbers came in the middle of the night and robbed some houses. That’s why you saw landlords and landladies discussing in different groups.”
Efforts to reach the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for an official statement on the matter were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages at the time of this report.
Further details on the incidents are expected to emerge as investigations continue.
