In a daring act, kidnappers stormed the Nigerian Army Post Housing Scheme in the Kurudu area of Abuja, abducting two residents on Thursday night. According to a neighbor of the victims, Austine John, the kidnappers entered the estate, firing gunshots indiscriminately. While Cyril Adikwu managed to escape, the kidnappers successfully abducted his wife and in-law. The neighbor described the event as traumatic, emphasizing the fear among residents throughout the night.

This incident follows closely on the heels of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, asserting that the Federal government would not tolerate any form of bandit attack in Abuja.

Austine John highlighted the prompt response of the estate’s management and the arrival of army personnel after the incident. He expressed the need for urgent action to put an end to the rising wave of kidnapping in the Federal Capital Territory.

As of the time of the report, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the incident. Kidnappings have become alarmingly frequent in the Federal Capital Territory, raising concerns and calls for concerted efforts to address the menace.
