Abuja Residents Protest After Security Raid

Protests broke out in Abuja’s Wuse Zone 5 as residents blocked roads with burning tyres on Mobassa Street. The demonstration followed a recent security raid in the area targeting suspected drug dealers, during which one person reportedly suffered a severe gunshot injury.

Witnesses in the area described Wuse Zone 5 as a known hotspot for drug-related activities, often attracting large crowds. A resident explained that the security operation led to chaos when a gunshot was fired, reportedly injuring one person during the raid.

In response, residents took to the streets, setting up barricades and lighting bonfires as a show of defiance. The incident highlights ongoing tension in the community over issues of safety and law enforcement tactics.
