The Accord Party (AP) has disbanded its National Working Committee (NWC) and elected new leaders.
Mohammad Lawal Nalado, the party’s immediate past National Chairman, addressed the party’s National Executive Council, NEC, in Abuja on Friday. He had served the party for more than 20 years.
Speaking, Nalado thanked the party’s NEC members and close allies for the opportunity to serve the party throughout his tenure.
He acknowledged the assistance he received from people who worked with him, noting that he never experienced headaches while performing his job.
He promised to continue helping the party reach new heights.
Nalado stated that he willingly decided to step down and was opposed to a revision of the party’s constitution that would have allowed him to continue as Chairman for another year.
He urged whoever becomes the party’s next National Chairman to outperform himself, and he stated that he is always willing to assist the new leadership.
“I’m getting older, I’m no longer a youthful man, and I believe my thinking is deteriorating. He responded, “You can’t compare a young man’s strength to that of an old man.”
Martins Inyang Ansa, Protem’s National Chairman, then presided over the party’s Caretaker Committee elections.
During the meeting, the party also chose Barr Maxwell Mgbudem, who is also the National Secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, as the National Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, and Dr Adebukola Abiola Ajaja as the National Secretary of the Caretaker Committee.
