Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State, has returned to Nigeria after a three-month medical vacation in Germany. He immediately resumed work and held meetings with various political stakeholders in the state.
Akeredolu, who had been away since June, transferred power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, before his departure. Upon his return, he sent a letter to the state House of Assembly to officially notify them of his return.
The governor expressed gratitude to those who had prayed for his recovery and return, and he assured the people that he would continue to serve out his term in office.
While some political stakeholders welcomed his return, the state’s opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), criticized him for returning to Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, instead of directly to Ondo State. The PDP accused Akeredolu of relocating the state government to Ibadan, which they deemed an insult to the people of Ondo State.
Akeredolu’s return and resumption of work mark a significant development in the governance of Ondo State, and his actions will likely be closely watched by both supporters and critics in the coming days.
