Some angry people from Kogi Central have dragged the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the entire Senate to court for suspending their senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. They believe it is unfair and wrong to silence her just because she spoke up. The Senate suspended Natasha for six months after she reported Akpabio for sexual harassment, but a Senate committee said she broke the rules and punished her.

The people of Kogi Central, led by top human rights lawyer Femi Falana, said this suspension is not just about Natasha—it’s about their voice in the Senate being taken away. They said the decision goes against democracy and the African Charter, which gives every citizen the right to be represented in government.
They want the court to cancel Natasha’s suspension and allow her to return to her seat, speak for her people, and collect all her unpaid benefits. Ten citizens are behind the case, and they say the Senate has no power to stop a senator from doing their job. The court hasn’t fixed a date yet for the hearing.
