The Ondo State Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps, announced on Monday that there has been a recent inflow of kidnappers into the state.
The increase of suspected kidnappers in the state was linked to the high presence of security personnel in neighboring Ekiti State following the recent murder of two monarchs and kidnapping of schoolchildren.
Adetunji Adeleye, the commander of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, stated that the state will not accept becoming a safe haven for criminals while paraded some suspected criminals to the Corps headquarters.
Adeleye informed people of the corps’ commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout the state.
He reported that 43 alleged kidnappers had been apprehended in various regions of the state over the last week.
“The shocking thing about today’s parade is the rapid increase in the number of kidnapping suspects. Approximately half of the 43 are suspected kidnappers who we have reasonable grounds to question.
“I want to attribute this to the large number of security personnel in Ekiti, and I want to believe they are being driven to Ondo State.
“We have risen up to the challenge, and all of them that we have picked up in kidnapping scenes, during kidnapping, and during attempts to kidnap with credible victims around to identify some of them, are the ones we are parading today.”
