Silas Onyima, the President-General of Umuoji Community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, was slain by several as-yet-unidentified thugs.
The incident’s specifics are still unknown, but it was reported that the group of thugs—roughly fifteen in total—broke into the deceased’s house on Friday night and shot him dead, sending the neighborhood into a state of terror.
According to a source, “The deceased presided over one election in the community and was our recently elected president general.” He was shot dead by a group of masked guys who broke into his residence on Friday night.
When called, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the occurrence and stated that police officers had been stationed nearby.
“The police are aware of the development,” stated Ikenga. After receiving the information, we sent personnel to the location. When word reached us, our men arrived on the spot and discovered the man lying in a pool of blood.
“Some family members assisted in recovering the deceased’s body and putting it at the morgue. In order to help find the offenders, we are also collaborating with a few eyewitnesses and locals, and the inquiry is still underway.
