As of the latest update from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Usman Ododo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kogi State governorship election, is leading other candidates in the race. INEC has officially announced results from 18 out of the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
The declared results from the LGAs are as follows:
- Adavi LGA
- Ajaokuta LGA
- Ankpa LGA
- Bassa LGA
- Dekina LGA
- Idah LGA
- Ijumu LGA
- Kabba-Bunu LGA
- Kogi LGA
- Mopamuro LGA
- Ofu LGA
- Okehi LGA
- Okene LGA
- Olamaboro LGA
- Omala LGA
- Yagba East LGA
- Yagba West LGA
From the 18 LGAs, Usman Ododo has garnered 417,166 votes, followed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Murtala Ajaka, with 208,503 votes. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dino Melaye, trails behind with 41,925 votes.
Usman Ododo secured victories in 11 LGAs, while the SDP candidate won in six LGAs, and the ADC candidate, Leke Abejide, won in one LGA.
Results from the outstanding LGAs (Ibaji, Lokoja, and Igalamela-Odolu) are expected to be announced once the collation center reconvenes.
