ASELGON Rejects Political Moves, Stays Focused on Grassroots

As political tensions rise ahead of the 2027 elections, the Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) has distanced itself from efforts to unseat President Bola Tinubu. Amid growing opposition, including moves by Peter Obi, Governor Bala Mohammed, and former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, ASELGON made it clear that it will not be part of any political maneuvering.

ASELGON’s National President, Albert Asipa, warned against unauthorized use of the association’s name for political agendas. He reaffirmed ASELGON’s mission to promote grassroots development, mentorship, and local government autonomy, stating that the group is not aligned with any party or candidate. Asipa also cautioned members against being drawn into political schemes that do not serve their core objectives.

With ASELGON preparing for its upcoming Jos convention, Asipa emphasized the need for unity and a continued focus on community development. He urged members to resist political manipulation and remain dedicated to their original purpose—empowering local communities and strengthening governance at the grassroots level.
