Paul Ibe, Special Adviser on Media to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, claiming it has made Nigeria unrecognizable. Ibe’s comments came in response to Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s statement that Nigerians will not recognize the country by the end of Tinubu’s second tenure.
Speaking at the flag-off of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja, Akpabio expressed confidence that Tinubu’s tenure would bring significant changes to Nigeria, urging Nigerians to pray for the president and remain hopeful. He lauded the new bus terminal as a major achievement and praised the appointment of Nyesom Wike as the Federal Capital Territory Minister.
In a rebuttal, Paul Ibe argued that Tinubu’s economic policies have already plunged Nigerians into hardship. He stated that the country, less than a year into Tinubu’s administration, has become “scattered, battered, and shattered.” Ibe’s principal, Atiku Abubakar, echoed this sentiment, labeling the current administration’s policies as a “cocktail of trial-and-error” and accusing it of deceptive practices regarding the fuel subsidy controversy.
Atiku criticized the proposal to pay for fuel subsidies, as submitted by Finance Minister Wale Edun in the 2024 economic draft, highlighting it as an example of the administration’s failings. He insisted that Nigeria deserves better than what he perceives as misleading economic strategies.
