Atiku Eyes 2027 Presidency, APC Expects Defeat

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scoffed at the reported 2027 presidential ambitions of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Atiku Abubakar. Bala Ibrahim, the APC Director of Publicity, described Abubakar intentions as the “most laughable news of 2024” and confidently predicted his defeat once again.

Atiku’s spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, confirmed on Tuesday night that the former vice-president intends to run in the 2027 presidential election. Bwala touted Abubakar as the president Nigeria never had, citing his experience and capacity. The PDP Deputy Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, commended Atiku’s decision and emphasized the party’s need to galvanize support for the upcoming election.

However, the APC Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, advised Abubakar to retire from politics, suggesting that he lacks political value. Opposition parties expressed diverse opinions, with some supporting Abubakar right to contest and others suggesting support for younger candidates.

“Atiku should better forget about politics completely. He is surrounded by people who mislead him because anybody who has real feelings and concern for Abubakar will not advise him to run against Tinubu again,” said Bala Ibrahim.

Political figures and analysts had mixed reactions to Atiku’s 2027 presidential ambition. Omoyele Sowore dismissed Abubakar chances, calling him a “serial loser.” Rotimi Olawale of YouthHub Africa advised older politicians to support younger aspirants, while Wale Egbeola-Martins, YPP National Publicity Secretary, emphasized the need for visionary and dynamic leaders.

“Abubakar is within his rights to contest the Presidency in 2027…older politicians should yield the floor and support a younger generation of leaders,” stated Rotimi Olawale.

The debate over Abubakar political future in 2027 continues, with diverse opinions emerging from various political quarters.
