Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, has cautioned that the world may face another pandemic within the next 25 years if a major war does not occur. Speaking during an interview on CNBC’s Make It program, Gates shared his concerns that while global unrest could trigger significant conflicts, the more likely scenario is another global health crisis.
Gates based this prediction on lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, stressing that the world remains unprepared for future health emergencies. He noted that new diseases could emerge from pathogens crossing over from animals to humans, and highlighted the United States’ failure to meet global expectations during the last pandemic.
In his 2022 book, How to Prevent the Next Pandemic, Gates outlined measures to improve global readiness, including better quarantine strategies and increased funding for vaccine research to prevent future crises.
