Lagos, Nigeria – The law firm Aluko & Oyebode, representing Binance Holdings Limited, has raised urgent concerns over the health of Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive detained in Nigeria. In a letter to the Federal High Court, the firm warned that Gambaryan’s condition could worsen in Kuje Correctional Centre.
Gambaryan, Head of Financial Crimes Compliance at Binance, collapsed in prison on May 22 and received intravenous treatment for malaria. The law firm highlighted his deteriorating health, emphasizing the need for specialized medical care, particularly given his status as an American citizen with increased vulnerability to malaria.
The letter, signed by Partner C.J. Caleb, urged the court to transfer Gambaryan to Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja for comprehensive treatment. The U.S. Consul in Abuja also stressed the urgency, noting that malaria poses a severe risk to Americans due to their lack of immunity. Caleb further mentioned Gambaryan’s additional health issues and the ongoing renovations at Kuje Correctional Facility as reasons for the requested transfer.
