Veteran singer-songwriter and former member of Plantashun Boiz, Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, popularly known as Blackface, has accused Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake of plagiarizing his songs.
In a recent interview with Naija FM in Lagos, Blackface alleged that the songs “Ginger” by Wizkid and Burna Boy and “Joha” by Asake were samples of his own tracks without his consent.
According to Blackface, the rhythms, beat, and melody of “Ginger” resemble his song “Twist & Turn,” with only the verses being changed. He also claimed that Asake’s “Joha” samples his song “Ikebe Supa.”
While Blackface acknowledged that he doesn’t mind young artists sampling his songs, he expressed disappointment in their failure to seek his permission before doing so.
