The abrupt disappearance of remains of a 63-year-old woman, Olajumoke Julianah Ogunsuyi, who was supposed to be buried today (Saturday), has caused alarm in Osi, Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State.
According to reports, family members deposited the late Mrs Ogunsuyi’s body to the mortuary division of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) Teaching hospital in the state.
According to a source who spoke on Friday, it was shocking when the deceased’s relatives arrived to the hospital’s morgue to receive the body for burial but discovered that the corpse was missing.
“After waiting for several hours for the attendants to bring out Mrs Ogunsuyi’s corpse, we were surprised and dismayed to find her nowhere to be found,” the source claimed.
According to a police source familiar with the incident, the mortuary attendants and hospital officials have been summoned for questioning, and the investigation revealed that Mrs Ogunsuyi’s body was exchanged for another family for burial at Oba Ile town, both in Akure North LGA of the state.
Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, could not be reached for comment because the message forwarded to her official number by our correspondent to seek remarks had yet to be delivered as of press time.
