Borno Governor Zulum Launches Fuel Subsidy for Farmers

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has introduced a fuel subsidy program to assist farmers affected by Boko Haram insurgency. The initiative, announced in Bama town, aims to support irrigation farming by reducing the price of petrol from ₦1,200 to ₦600 per litre for farmers. This move seeks to tackle the high cost of fuel that hinders agricultural productivity.

During the event, Zulum also distributed essential farm inputs to over 5,000 farmers, including fertilizers, water pumps, sprayers, and seeds. The government has already constructed over 100 tube wells for irrigation, with plans to add 250 more. This effort is part of a broader strategy to revitalize farming and boost local economies.

Zulum emphasized his administration’s commitment to resettling displaced communities and rebuilding villages devastated by insurgency. He thanked the federal government for its support in facilitating reconstruction and resettlement initiatives.
