The suspension of Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has been demanded due to alleged anti-party activities. The call comes in response to Adamu’s objection to the selection of National Assembly Principal officers in Abuja and his perceived betrayal during the presidential election, which resulted in the party’s loss to the Labour Party.
Dr. Garus Gololo, a former BOT member of the APC, expressed disappointment and urged for Adamu’s immediate removal to avert internal crises within the party. Gololo announced a forthcoming protest in Abuja by a coalition of stakeholders to amplify the demand for Adamu’s ousting.
Citing Adamu’s consistent opposition to consensus decisions made by party stakeholders, Gololo questioned the chairman’s motives and highlighted his alleged animosity towards Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Gololo emphasized that Adamu’s rejection of the National Assembly leadership election outcome undermines the party’s hierarchy and its efforts in Nasarawa State.
Gololo further asserted that Adamu had lost the support and trust of party stakeholders by failing to secure significant votes in his unit during the presidential election. The former BOT member criticized Adamu’s interference in National Assembly matters and urged him to focus on unifying the party and suggesting ways to advance the nation.
Gololo commended President Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that a united APC would contribute to a prosperous Nigeria. He reiterated the stakeholders’ demand for the removal of the National Chairman, either through party processes or court intervention.
Gololo threatened to approach the court to press for Adamu’s removal, stating that his actions were distracting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the entire party from delivering on their promises to the Nigerian people. He called for Adamu to retire to his village and care for his family, as his presence in the party was deemed unbeneficial.
In conclusion, a coalition of APC stakeholders seeks to save the party from what they perceive as the destructive influence of Abdullahi Adamu, urging for his suspension and removal from the position of National Chairman.
