Nollywood actor Chidi Mokeme recently shared a harrowing experience of waking up with Bell’s Palsy, a condition causing partial facial paralysis. Despite the diagnosis, Chidi Mokeme refused to let it hinder his work, emphasizing resilience and determination. His openness about the ordeal highlights the impact of health challenges while showcasing his commitment to overcoming obstacles in his professional life.

“This happened as I woke up one morning. Probably, this happened in the middle of the night. Luckily for me, I was away in the US, so I was at home. So I woke up that morning. I tried to reach my phone. The mind wants to pick up the phone, but the body is not responding. It is a very confused state,” he said.
Amid a distressing situation, Chidi Mokeme’s wife suspected a stroke when he experienced facial paralysis. Hospital tests later revealed a diagnosis of bell’s palsy, causing facial muscle impairment. Despite uncertainty and potential permanence, Chidi Mokeme remained resolute, determined not to let it hinder him. Some faced months or years for improvement, but his resilience prevailed.
Undeterred by bell’s palsy, Chidi Mokeme, showcasing remarkable determination, left for Lagos the day after the diagnosis, continuing an ongoing film tour for “76.” His commitment to overcoming adversity serves as a testament to his unwavering spirit and determination.
“I said that is not going to stop me. I am going to get up. That is what I could have told my brother if he came in. Do not let that stop you. You have to keep going. That is just a small distraction,” he emphasized.
