Dangote Worker Killed in Lagos in Hit-and-Run Incident

Joseph Ameh, a worker at the Dangote Refinery, lost his life on Thursday when he was struck by a car in a hit-and-run accident in the Lagos state neighborhood of Ibeju Lekki.

According to information obtained by the media, the victim was crossing the Lekki Epe Expressway on a golf bustop when the unidentified driver struck him and fled.

The driver managed to escape in his car before the throng could catch up with him, making capture attempts futile.

“It happened about 7 pm last night that one guy was just walking on the pedestrian side of the road near Golf Bustop when suddenly a speeding private vehicle ran into him,” the witness told reporters.

The driver swiftly turned his car around and drove away after noticing that the man on the ground had not moved and that the collision appeared to be fatal. Unfortunately, he was moving at top speed, making it impossible for anyone to pursue him.
He continued by saying that it was his ID card, which proved he was a Dangote Cement employee, that the policemen from Elemero Police Station noticed when they arrived to remove the body. Joseph Ameh was his name, and he was just 39 years old.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, verified the incident when he was contacted.

“The body was recovered bruised, however it has been removed from the road and deposited at the Epe General Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation,” the Superintendent of Police revealed.

A phone discovered on his body was also used to get in touch with the deceased man’s family, and efforts to apprehend the evading driver have begun.
