Popular Afrobeats artist, Davido, has provided an explanation for his absence at the Warri show, following criticism from Amaju Pinnick for not showing up despite receiving payment.
The former NFF president alleged that he had paid Davido a substantial sum of money, including covering his flight expenses to the event, but Davido failed to appear.
In response to the criticism, Davido, who had previously criticized Pinnick for his past actions, has clarified the situation for fans who had purchased tickets and were anticipating his performance.
Davido explained that he had informed the show organizers months in advance that he wouldn’t be able to attend the event in person. However, they continued to promote the show using his name for reasons known to them.
Davido expressed his regret to his devoted fans in Warri who had spent their hard-earned money on tickets and assured them that he would make it up to them. He promised that when he returns to Delta State, the performance will be grander and better.
His statement read:
“To my lovely fans in Warri that spent their hard earned money to come out. Apologies you had to experience this. I was not going to be physically able to make it and this had been communicated to ‘them’ for a longgggg while now I mean MONTHS ago but for reasons best known to them, they continued to promote the show using my name. It’s a shame. But specially for my fans out there, don’t worry, you know I gotta bring Timeless to Delta State. We will do it proper, bigger and better !”
