Kafayat Adeleke, the mother of Sultan Adeleke, a deformed street hawker known as Eniola, has provided insight into the reasons her child transformed himself into a girl. Eniola gained attention when skit maker and comedian Brain Jotter helped him with N400,000 after encountering him hawking water on Lagos highways. The video went viral, and singer Davido tagged the Osun State Governor, seeking assistance for the “girl.”
However, controversies arose as some claimed that Eniola is a boy disguising as a girl for public sympathy. In an interview, Kafayat Adeleke clarified that Eniola was born with a deformity and has always disguised himself as a girl since 2018 in Osogbo. She explained that he ran away from home in 2020, seeking help in Lagos while posing as a girl.
The mother denied claims of wanting to use him for ritual purposes and shared pictures of Eniola’s deformity since birth and his birth certificate, confirming his identity. Eniola himself later revealed on Instagram Live that he is a boy and had dressed as a girl to garner public support, as he felt no one was willing to help him in his true identity.
