Lagos lawmaker and actor-turned-politician, Desmond Elliot, has called on residents to take responsibility for preventing roadside parking across the state. Speaking during the commissioning of four roads in Amuwo Odofin by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Elliot stressed that roads should remain accessible and free from obstructions like containers and articulated vehicles.
Elliot, who represents Surulere Constituency and chairs the House Committee on Works, expressed his excitement over the visible improvements in road infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of maintaining these roads for public use, urging residents to “own their roads” and discourage practices that hinder smooth movement and accessibility.
“This road is not a parking space for containers or vehicles,” Elliot said. “It is meant for people to move and enjoy the benefits of democracy.” He further encouraged Lagosians to work collectively to protect public infrastructure and ensure sustainable development across the state. The event was attended by Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat, Speaker Mojisola Meranda, and other dignitaries.
