Nigerian singer and producer, Don Jazzy, recently revealed the reasons behind his decision not to sign Simi and Teni to his record label.
In an interview, Don Jazzy expressed some regret over not signing these talented artists, admitting that he admired their work and wished he had brought them on board.
He recalled a Twitter contest he held for the song “Journey of A Thousand Miles” by D’Prince featuring Wande Coal, where Simi participated and impressed him with her cover. However, she didn’t win the contest, and at that time, he wasn’t in a position to sign her.
Don Jazzy also shared that he had a friendly relationship with Teni, but at that particular time, he wasn’t ready to bring her from Atlanta to Nigeria for work. As a result, Teni released records elsewhere, and he felt he missed the opportunity to collaborate with her.
While he expressed some regrets, Don Jazzy acknowledged that sometimes other opportunities arise quickly, and he had to move on. Despite not signing them, he still admires both Simi and Teni for their immense talent and success in the music industry.
