Two suspected smugglers were detained by State Security Service (SSS) agents after they allegedly attacked customs inspectors in the southwest of Nigeria. They were then turned over to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, Ikeja, of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Hussein Kehinde Ejibunu, Zone A’s acting controller, claimed that the individuals were wanted by security personnel for attacks and attempted murder.
According to Ejibunu, the suspects opened fire on a team of customs patrol officers, wounding one of them.
He continued, “We would want to convey our sincere appreciation to sister security agencies for their unwavering synergy during our activities. A special mention should go to the Department of State Services’ Oyo State Command for its role in the capture of infamous individuals who were wanted for attacking a team of customs officers guarding exhibits”.
