Lagos, Nigeria – In a dramatic turn of events, operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have launched a search operation at the Head office of the Dangote Group of Companies, situated in Lagos State. The operation, which began around 3 p.m. on Thursday, is currently ongoing as of the time of this report.
Sources indicate that the EFCC is conducting an investigation into the foreign exchange allocations made to approximately 52 companies, including Dangote Plc, during the tenure of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
An anonymous source disclosed, “The commission (EFCC) is investigating Dangote Plc and about 51 other big companies. The commission discovered that the allocations were not approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari.”
Upon inquiry, the spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the presence of anti-graft operatives at the Dangote Group’s location. However, he refrained from providing specific details regarding the reason for their presence, stating, “I can confirm that our men are there, but I can’t comment on the reason for their presence there.” The situation is developing, and further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
