Fresh FM 106.9 FM, a privately owned radio broadcast station in Ado, Ekiti State, has announced a ban on playing songs by Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, until further notice. This decision comes in the wake of the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, also known as MohBad, and the controversy surrounding Naira Marley.
The radio station made the announcement via its Instagram handle and cited public outcry, viral videos, and concerns about the involvement of members of MohBad’s previous record label, Marlian Records, as reasons for the ban.
This ban follows a similar move by Splash FM 105.5 in Ibadan, Oyo State, which also suspended the playing of Naira Marley’s songs.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has set up a special investigative team to probe the death of MohBad. The team, consisting of 13 members, will work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death and identify any witnesses or culprits. They are expected to submit an interim report within two weeks as part of the investigation process.
