Enugu police kill alleged IPOB/ESN member, recover weapons

Alleged member of the Eastern Security Network, the armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has been neutralized by Enugu State Police Command agents working with neighborhood watch group members in the state.

Along with other exhibits, the security agencies also found his gun and ammunition.

This information was provided by the police in a statement that was released on Sunday night and was signed by Daniel Ndukwe, the Command’s spokesperson.
According to Ndukwe, the victim and his suspected group opened fire on the security forces on Saturday at approximately 10:45 p.m. in Igbele village along Amachala Road in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, killing the suspect.

The police chief said that the achievement was made possible by what he called novel policing tactics developed by the state’s police commissioner, Kanayo Uzuegbu, to purge the state of persistent criminals.

According to him, the NPF Special Forces and Igbo-Eze North Police Division of the Command are providing the operation’s operators.
The neutralized member of the outlawed group left behind one pump action gun loaded with four live rounds, three spent cartridges, items that were maybe amulets, one black (inscribed “Special Constabulary”), and one yellow-colored beret apiece.

The achievement was made possible by the operatives’ prompt action in reaction to reliable intelligence about the renegades’ heinous criminal conduct when they stopped the route and started shooting at them in large numbers.

However, the operatives skillfully retaliated with greater firepower, causing numerous more members of the criminal organization to flee with bullet wounds of different severity.

Ndukwe reported that the CP praised the squad for a job well done and assured them of the command’s commitment to continuing the assault against persistent offenders.

However, he made a plea to the people of Enugu State to assist the police as they work to purge the state and society of criminal elements.
