Three people have been detained by the Enugu State Police Command in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a three-year-old girl at Tenderlink School in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State (names withheld).
Following her home from school on Tuesday, November 14, the little girl was found to have suffered from physical injuries and had bloodstains on her private area, according to police investigations.
The driver, the bus attendant, and the girl’s female instructor have all been taken into custody to be questioned further.
Daniel Ndukwe, the state PR officer, revealed this in a statement posted on Friday via the command’s X Twitter.
“The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department has been ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, to thoroughly investigate and ensure the prosecution of everyone involved in the sexual molestation of a three-year-old female pupil of Tenderlink School, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu,” Ndukwe said. After being left off at home by the school bus on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the youngster (names omitted) was discovered to have been sexually abused, as evidenced by physical injuries and blood patches on her private area.
The PRO stated that the command had detained “three suspects, comprising the victim’s female teacher, the school’s bus attendant, and the driver” for questioning “in addition to the receipt of similar complaints by parents of other children at the school.”
“Unthinkable and wonders why the school’s authority and teachers will allow such to happen to the toddler they are supposed to tutor and protect from such an ungodly act,” Ndukwe said the commissioner said of the act.
The state CP also welcomes the state government’s decision to compel the school to close while awaiting the investigation’s conclusion, “while vowing to ensure that everyone found culpable faces the full wrath of the law.”
