The 2023 Abia State coordinator for the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization (APCO), Charles Obioha Ogbonnaya, has made a startling revelation about his former principal, Atiku Abubakar. Ogbonnaya stated that Atiku would not have made a good president had he won last year’s election.
In an interview with Daily Sun, Ogbonnaya declared his decision not to support Atiku in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Ogbonnaya criticized Atiku’s campaign management, highlighting that Atiku distributed funds to his coordinators across the 36 states without ensuring accountability for the expenditure. This, he argued, indicated poor leadership qualities.
“I will not support Atiku. After the 2023 presidential election, I reported that Atiku would not make a good president, even if he had won. He didn’t ask his coordinators how they spent the money he gave them. Reappraising what went wrong is crucial, and Atiku failed to do this,” Ogbonnaya said.
When questioned about his initial support for Atiku despite these doubts, Ogbonnaya explained, “You cannot know the taste of any soup until you taste it. I have followed Atiku since the days of PDM, SDP, and PDP. I admired him for his ability to build people, but in retrospect, Tinubu is a better politician. Tinubu established a political structure before becoming governor, and it remains strong today.”
