Former Ondo State First Lady, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has decried Nigeria’s worsening economic situation, likening the country to war-torn Somalia due to widespread hunger. She expressed her concern on X following recent stampedes during palliative sharing events in Abuja and Anambra, which claimed multiple lives.
The tragic incidents, including the deaths of 22 people in Anambra and at least 10 in Abuja, reflect the growing desperation among Nigerians. Anyanwu-Akeredolu described the situation as “tiring” and urged for urgent action to address the crisis.
In related news, Peter Obi condemned the arrest of organizers of a palliative event in Oyo State, emphasizing that goodwill acts should not be criminalized. He called for policies prioritizing citizens’ welfare to reduce hunger and poverty nationwide.
