Former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, has been released from the Kuje Correctional Centre after successfully meeting his bail conditions. The release occurred on Friday evening, as confirmed by the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Adamu Duza.
Agunloye’s release follows his arraignment before a Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged involvement in a $6 billion Mambilla hydropower contract. Despite pleading not guilty to the charges, the court initially ordered his remand in Kuje custodial center until bail conditions were fulfilled.

The former minister’s legal team worked towards meeting the bail requirements, leading to his release on Friday around 5:30 pm. The details of the bail conditions and the subsequent release were confirmed by Duza.
Agunloye’s case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is related to the Mambilla hydropower project, a significant power scheme with a reported worth of $6 billion. The EFCC had declared Agunloye wanted in connection with the investigation into the hydropower project.
