Femi Falana, a prominent human rights lawyer, has called for the release of Wale Adedayo, the chairman of Ijebu East Local Government in Ogun State, who was detained by the Department of State Services (DSS). Adedayo had accused Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun of diverting federal allocations meant for the state’s local governments over the past two years.
In a statement, Falana also suggested that Governor Abiodun should sue Adedayo for defamation in the Ogun State High Court if he believes the allegations are false. He pointed out that past governors have taken legal action against individuals for making similar claims.
Falana further urged the Ogun State Command of the DSS to release Adedayo from custody, considering the circumstances of the case. It remains to be seen how this situation will develop and whether any legal action will be taken by the parties involved.
