A man was detained after reportedly trying to rob a bank of $650 in order to pay his rent and stay off the streets.
According to a federal complaint that was released on Monday, the FBI detained Michael Noojin, 67, when he attempted to rob a Bank of America in Hollywood, Florida, of the money.
Noojin stood in line to see a teller while wearing a yellow polo shirt with sailboats and birds printed all over it, blue jeans, white sneakers, and sunglasses.
Noojin waited as the teller promised to assist him in a moment.
The lawsuit states that when Noojin approached the counter and the cashier asked for his debit card, Noojin responded, “I have a gun, put all the money in the bag.”
Noojin also shoved a brown plastic shopping bag toward the teller under the safety glass.
Put the money in the bag because I’m not joking around and I have a gun, stated Noojin.
According to the lawsuit, the teller began shutting her money drawer after failing to see a gun.
