The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has unleashed a decisive blow against criminal elements in Abuja, with a massive operation resulting in the arrest of 85 suspects. SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, disclosed this groundbreaking development in a statement released on Sunday.
According to Adeh, the operation, conducted between March 31 and April 4, 2024, targeted notorious black spots and criminal hideouts in the Durumi and Dei-Dei areas of Abuja. These locations, known as havens for hoodlums, were infiltrated by FCT Police operatives in a well-coordinated raid.
The crackdown yielded a trove of incriminating evidence, with suspects apprehended for a range of offenses including illegal construction of structures, drug trafficking, and counterfeit currency production. During the operation, law enforcement officers executed search warrants, uncovering a cache of contraband including counterfeit currencies, weapons, motorcycles, generators, and stolen ATM cards.
Adeh emphasized that all arrested individuals would undergo thorough screening, with those found guilty facing legal prosecution. Additionally, the illegal structures erected by criminals were dismantled and destroyed as a deterrent against further criminal activities in the area.
As investigations continue, Commissioner of Police, FCT, Bennet Igweh, reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating crime from the nation’s capital and ensuring the safety of residents.
The swift and decisive action by the FCT Police Command underscores its determination to maintain law and order, sending a clear message to criminals that their activities will not be tolerated. Residents can rest assured that the authorities are dedicated to creating a secure environment for all citizens.
