The Federal Government has pledged to implement measures to curb the influx of illegal immigrants into Nigeria, emphasizing the need to secure the country’s borders. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this commitment during a visit by the Director of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), Dasuki Arabi.
The minister highlighted the importance of stopping the entry of illegal aliens who often use fake travel documents to enter the country. He stressed that the security of Nigeria is closely linked to the security of its borders. The government is determined to address the challenges posed by illegal immigration, recognizing that securing the nation’s borders is a crucial aspect of national security.
Tunji-Ojo expressed readiness to collaborate with the BPSR in finding effective solutions to the security challenges facing the country. In response, Arabi explained that the BPSR is mandated to initiate, coordinate, and ensure the full implementation of federal government reform policies. The reforms encompass various pillars, with a focus on creating an enabling environment for national security, socio-economic development, public financial management, and civil service administration.
