FRSC Urges Caution for Festive Season, Bans Night Journeys

As the festive season approaches, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is cautioning passengers against undertaking night journeys due to potential negative consequences, emphasizing the importance of road safety.

Mr. Ibrahim Maiyaki-Bazama, the FRSC Sector Commander in Katsina State, conveyed this warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Katsina. He highlighted the FRSC’s responsibility to implement measures that contribute to minimizing road crashes, with a specific focus on discouraging or reducing night travel.

Maiyaki-Bazama explained, “When a motorist is driving at night, he cannot see beyond the reach of the vehicle’s light. In case of an accident, sometimes helpers are not readily available, or it takes time to get those who will assist.”

To address potential emergencies, the sector commander disclosed that the command has standby rescue teams positioned at five units under its jurisdiction, namely Funtua, Daura, Koza, Malumfashi, and Kankia.

Emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations, Maiyaki-Bazama stated, “It is only the living that celebrate,” underscoring the commitment of the command to minimizing road crashes. He further mentioned ongoing efforts to engage stakeholders in the state on road safety to enhance awareness and cooperation.
