Giddey’s Legal Outcome in Alleged Minor Affair

Josh Giddey’s legal outcome emerges unscathed as allegations regarding an alleged relationship with a minor remain unverified, clearing him of criminal charges.

Josh Giddey, the Oklahoma City Thunder wing, will not face criminal charges following an investigation by the Newport Beach Police Department into allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a minor. The police department stated that after a comprehensive examination, they were unable to substantiate any criminal activity related to Mr. Giddey having an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

The NBA had initiated its own investigation in November after social media posts featuring Giddey with the alleged victim gained attention. While Giddey has been cleared by the police, he may still face disciplinary actions from the NBA, which doesn’t require criminal charges for potential fines or suspensions.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver emphasized the league’s approach of taking a back seat to criminal investigations and not making decisions solely based on allegations.

Despite the ongoing controversy, Giddey has continued playing for the Thunder, who have refrained from commenting extensively on the matter. Giddey, the former No. 6 overall pick, has seen a statistical dip this season but remains an integral part of the Thunder’s lineup. In 39 games, all starts, Giddey is averaging career lows in points (11.8), rebounds (6.1), assists (4.8), and minutes (24.8) per game.
