Goodluck Jonathan Urges Tinubu to Promote Democratic Values

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to foster a democratic environment where citizens can freely express their opinions. Speaking at a one-day event celebrating 25 years of continuous democracy in Nigeria, Jonathan emphasized the need to end ‘do or die’ politics in the country.

During the event at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja, Jonathan highlighted President Tinubu’s responsibility to ensure a positive start to the next 25 years of Nigerian democracy. He urged for the building of a Nigeria where every citizen has a voice and opportunities are abundant, stressing that democracy should not be based on regional or religious politics.

Jonathan also pointed out the need to reduce the friction caused by numerous election-related litigations, which disrupt the democratic process. He emphasized the importance of the political elite setting a standard through their actions, ensuring that the benefits of democracy are accessible to all Nigerians, regardless of their social or financial status.
