On Monday, two police officers and a civilian were killed at Ahiara Junction in Imo State’s Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area.
The attack occurred while the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Danjuma Aboki, was visiting his officers in Mbaise.
According to reports, when the attackers arrived, they began firing on the uniformed cops.
They killed two police officers on the spot, while a passerby was killed by a stray bullet.
“Two police officers have been killed at Ahiara Junction,” the source stated. When the attackers arrived, they opened fire on the police officers, killing two on the spot. A stray bullet also struck a young man, killing him on the spot.
“Videos of the victims’ lifeless bodies are circulating online.” This is quite unfortunate.”
When reached, the state police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, stated that the command had declared a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
He went on to say, “The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, Commander 34 Artillery Brigade, and Joint Task Force operatives are combing the scene of the crime for evidence that will possibly lead to the arrest of hoodlums responsible for the attack and killing of two policemen at Ahaira Junction, in Ahaizu Mbaise LGA of Imo State.”
Reporters witnessed video footage of the police officers and civilians’ lifeless bodies.
The lifeless body of Eze Joe Ochulor, the traditional ruler of the Otulu autonomous community in the neighboring Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, was discovered in the neighboring Aboh Mbaise LGA on Saturday evening.
After being stolen from his palace on Saturday morning, the monarch’s body was discovered on the roadside on Saturday evening.
