Hoodlums Plague Lagos Communities, Residents Seek Help

Residents of the Akerele and Atobaje communities in the Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State are living in fear due to a high rate of crime in their area. The residents, especially at night, are apprehensive about walking on the streets because of the presence of aggressive individuals who are often under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

It has been reported that these suspected hoodlums engage in various criminal activities, including rape, burglary, and robbery when they are under the influence of narcotics.

Some residents expressed their concerns, highlighting the role of drug abuse among the youth in the area as a major threat to community peace. They called on parents to take responsibility for their children’s behavior and urged the government to implement basic community services like street lighting and improved security to address the social issues in the neighborhood.

The police in the area did not provide immediate comments on the situation. The residents’ concerns reflect the challenges faced by some communities in addressing crime and drug-related issues, highlighting the need for effective law enforcement and community interventions.
