I Will deal with Saraki If He Contest PDP Chairmanship Against Me – Atiku’s Ex Aide Warns

Segun Sowunmi, a previous Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, has declared his intent to contest against former Senate President Bukola Saraki for the position of the party’s National Chairman. During a live appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sowunmi confidently asserted that he would defeat Saraki in the head-to-head race.

Sowunmi expressed his concerns about North Central candidates repeatedly occupying the party chairman position, emphasizing the need for fairness to the South-West region. He mentioned his readiness to enter the race if young people supported his candidacy.

While acknowledging the need for change, Sowunmi cautioned against solely focusing on replacing the current leadership, highlighting the PDP’s history of changing chairpersons. He encouraged a measured and careful approach to leadership transitions.

As the PDP has seen 15 chairpersons, including six from the North Central region, Sowunmi’s aspiration adds another layer to the party’s evolving leadership dynamics. Umar Damagum presently holds the position of acting PDP National Chairman, following the removal of lyorchia Ayu in March.
