Imo Police Arrest Killers of DPO

The Imo State Police Command has announced the successful arrest of individuals involved in the killing of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area, an Inspector of police, and a civilian. The tragic incident occurred last Monday in an attack at Ahiara.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Danjuma Aboki, disclosed that the arrest of the suspects followed a well-coordinated operation by the command’s operatives. The assailants, suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed militia, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), were targeted in the police operation.

The police, in collaboration with the military, stormed the camp of the criminal syndicate in Umuohie, Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State, leading to the dislodgment of the terrorists. During the operation, two automatic pump-action rifles and six rounds of live cartridges were recovered.

The police continued their pursuit, reaching Igbodo-Etche in Rivers State, where a native doctor named Everest Agbaragam, alias Mount Everest, was apprehended. The search of his shrine resulted in the discovery of one pump-action gun loaded with 12 rounds of live cartridges, various denominations of Biafran currencies, a live crocodile, and fetish items. Everest Agbaragam confessed to being a member of IPOB/ESN and revealed his involvement in preparing local bulletproof charms for his cohorts.

The operation proceeded to Umuogwu Forest in Aboh Mbaise LGA on December 1, where terrorists engaged the police in a gun battle. Some were neutralized, while others escaped with bullet wounds. The police successfully dislodged the terrorist camp and recovered a significant cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, a Revolver, locally-made pistols, vehicles used in the attack, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The state police command, led by Commissioner Danjuma Aboki, is determined to ensure the security of the state. Investigations are ongoing, and the apprehended suspects will be arraigned in court upon completion of the comprehensive investigation. The police have vowed to continue their efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
