INTERPOL Nears Extradition of Binance Executive from Kenya

Efforts by INTERPOL to secure the extradition of Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive, from Kenya to Nigeria are rapidly progressing. Garba Umar, Vice-President of INTERPOL Africa, provided updates during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program.

Anjarwalla and his colleague Tigran Gambaryan faced charges of money laundering and tax evasion before escaping custody on March 22 and fleeing to Kenya. The Nigerian government expressed concerns about Binance’s operations, which were linked to the devaluation of the naira against major currencies.

Last week, the 38-year-old British-Kenyan was apprehended in Kenya after reportedly fleeing during a visit to a mosque for Ramadan prayers.

An anonymous government source confirmed Anjarwalla’s arrest and imminent extradition, stating, “As we had said before that Anjarwalla would be extradited, he has been arrested in Kenya, and he’ll be extradited to Nigeria this week.”

Vice-President Garba Umar assured that all necessary paperwork had been completed and handed over to INTERPOL for processing. He emphasized ongoing discussions with the Kenyan government to facilitate Anjarwalla’s extradition to Nigeria.

Umar reiterated INTERPOL’s commitment to international police cooperation and pledged to ensure Anjarwalla faces justice in Nigeria, stating, “We are now doing everything possible to ensure that the country (Kenya) complies with INTERPOL rules of international police cooperation by initiating the extradition process to bring him back to face justice in Nigeria.”

In addition to addressing the specific case, Umar discussed INTERPOL’s broader efforts to combat transnational cybercrime. He highlighted the organization’s deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) and the introduction of METAVERSE RETROVIRUS to bolster capabilities in combating cyber threats.

With collaboration from law enforcement agencies and the establishment of advanced cybercrime centres in countries like Nigeria and Rwanda, INTERPOL aims to prioritize the fight against cybercrime, safeguarding global security and countering criminal activities in the digital era.
