During an interview with media personality Jermaine, Priscilla Ojo, the daughter of Iyabo Ojo, candidly discussed the most valuable lesson she has learned from her mother.
Priscilla revealed that she has never experienced depression because she hails from a lineage of resilient women. Describing her mother as a strong woman, Priscilla shared that she has never witnessed Iyabo shed tears. She acknowledged that her strength is derived from her mother’s example.
According to Priscilla, even when she faces challenges, her spirit and energy remain unyielding. She expressed, “I wouldn’t say I was depressed at any point because I feel like we came from a lineage of strong women. I am very strong, my mum is very strong. I have never seen my mum cry. We have never had moments when we are crying. We are very strong, my mother is very strong and I learned from her. Even when I go through something, she can never see me down. We have that spirit of… that energy of not in this house. I can be on my bed crying, once she comes in, I am dancing and she knows.”
Priscilla also highlighted her mother’s approach, noting that when she is feeling down, her mom can sense it, but she won’t offer apologies. Instead, Iyabo Ojo uplifts her spirits, encouraging her to go out and enjoy herself.
