The Lagos State Police Command has officially confirmed the exhumation of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, on Thursday. The police also apprehended the nurse who administered an injection to the deceased singer before his untimely demise on September 12, according to Findwhosabi Metro.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed these developments in an exclusive telephone interview, stating that “Mohbad’s corpse has been exhumed today, and an autopsy will begin as soon as possible.”
Regarding arrests related to the singer’s death, Hundeyin mentioned, “I can’t answer questions on the arrests yet because I don’t have that update. However, the nurse is in our custody; I can confirm that.”
It’s worth noting that the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, previously instructed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohynwa, to initiate a swift and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s tragic passing. This directive was conveyed during a discussion at the Police Airwing Hangar in Lagos.
Furthermore, the police have initiated a full-scale criminal investigation into the case, led by a Special Investigation Team within the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department. The team, consisting of experienced homicide detectives, has been tasked with gathering information, allegations, and suspicions from various sources regarding the singer’s death. The investigation aims to establish facts, dispel doubts, and ensure justice is served through meticulous processes, which may include exhumation, technical, and scientific tools.
In addition to the police investigation, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, invited the Department of Security Services (DSS) to join the probe into the late singer’s death. The state government urged individuals with vital information to cooperate with the investigating team and assured the confidentiality and protection of witnesses who come forward.
Since Mohbad’s death, there has been an outpouring of support from fans and sympathizers, demanding a thorough investigation into the cause of his untimely demise. His management organized a candlelight procession and tribute night in his honor, and human rights lawyer Femi Falana pledged support to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the rapper’s death are uncovered and justice is served.
