Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kanayo O Kanayo has criticized people who exhibit a nonchalant attitude after receiving favors. Speaking via his Instagram account on Monday, the actor expressed his frustration with individuals who respond with “seen” after receiving money, calling it a sign of ungratefulness.
Kanayo emphasized that such behavior reflects an entitlement mentality. “You do somebody a favor by sending him or her money, and the person receives it and sends you a text with ‘seen.’ Seen? Come on! You think it’s your right? That’s an inheritance mentality; people are like this, and it doesn’t show that you are grateful,” he said.
The actor urged people to express gratitude, highlighting that it encourages the giver to do more. “Gratitude unspoken is ingratitude spoken. It’s not your right; learn to be grateful for whatever somebody does for you. That way, the person will be encouraged to do more. Stop being selfish; be grateful nobody owes you anything,” Kanayo concluded.
